A modern salon on the corner of Rodman and Brayton, built for the way you want to feel when you leave.

The studio sits at the corner of Rodman and Brayton, on a main road through Fall River you have probably driven past a hundred times. Inside, the room is built around two things, light and contrast. We chose the navy quilted wall because it grounds the brightness, the same way a dark suit grounds a white shirt. The floor was finished with marbled veining so it picks up the chandelier light and throws it back, doubling the room.
Every detail here was decided on purpose. The crystal chandeliers were not for the photo, they were for the glint they make overhead while you sit in the chair. The columns frame the shampoo room because the wash should feel like its own space, separate from the styling floor. The chairs are deep enough to actually relax in. We are particular, on purpose.
The first thing is the feel of the room. Less salon, more living room. The music shifts with the day, sometimes pop radio, sometimes something quieter, whatever fits who is in the chair. The second thing is the smell, clean and faint, never overpowering. The third thing is the rhythm. We work efficiently, often with more than one client moving through the appointment block at a time, but the chair never feels rushed. Your stylist sits with you, not over you, and your phone stays in your bag if you want it to. A couple of hours later you walk out into Rodman Street and the day looks a little brighter than it did when you came in.
A Hair Story did not open in Fall River by accident. Amanda spent nine years working in other people's chairs before she opened her own, and she knew exactly what she did not want. She did not want a chain. She did not want shift work. She did not want to chase the new technique every six weeks just to keep up with a corporate marketing calendar.
What she wanted was a room with stylists who enjoy working together, a client list built on word of mouth, and the kind of standing appointment that gets handed down between sisters, friends, and bridesmaids. That is what we built, and what we keep building, one chair at a time.
